Collage Critters: Fairytails

introducing

The Collage Critters is a collection of collage pieces I have made over the years, depicting animal heads on human bodies. They each have a personality, style, and story; you'll recognize some of them in the works Tou & Woody, Yaakov, and Desire to Touch (see Posters).

Fairytails is the collection of Critters that are inspired by traditional fairytale characters. For my undergrad senior project, I made these characters into the form of paper dolls. Over the semester, I designed and created four Fairytail characters: Alice in Wonderland (with a rabbit head), Little Red Riding Hood (with a wolf head), The Little Mermaid (with a fish head), and the princess from Princess and the Frog (with a frog head).

Each doll comes with a hand-drawn scene/storybook zine, accessories, and is sealed in an art nouveau design inspired package.

Exhibition

This project was made using handmade and digital methods.

The dolls were collaged, cut, and assembled by hand; and the storybook/doll scenes were illustrated, cut, and folded by hand. All envelopes were assembled by hand.

The package designs were made in Adobe Illustrator. Some elements of the dolls were drawn in Procreate. And all photo editing, scans, and color corrections were done in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
